Is it necessary to measure all brain regions for the assessment of PAF?

    Get PDF
From decades of research, electroencephalography (EEG) has been proved as a potential non-invasive medical technique to measure the electrophysiological activities of brain. Alpha is one of the most prominent frequency bands of EEG because of its applications in cognitive enhancement and biofeedback methods. 300 participants were included in the present study to investigate the relationships between their cognitive performance and Peak Alpha Frequency (PAF). Brain activity was recorded from all significant brain regions in 250 participants and only from occipital region in 50 participants. The aim of the present study was to ensure the brain region which is the most dominant one to measure PAF/ IAF. Power Spectrum Density (PSD) method was used for EEG signal analysis. Interrelationship among PAF, IAF and PAF of six individual electrode positions was also explored. Findings reveled that parieto- occipital electrode points are sufficient to assess one’s peak alpha frequency

    AUTOMATED LYRICAL NARRATIVE WRITING

    Get PDF
Computational Creativity studies the potential of computers to act as autonomous creators and co-creators in addition to tools helping people. Creativity is evident in music, visual art, problem solving and languages. Significant work has been conducted in the area of linguistic creation mainly in the generation of stories, puns, rhymes, jokes, similes, and poetry. One of the major challenges of computational creativity is to generate lyrics that exhibit human-level creativity. On one hand, the lyrics generated should be meaningful and coherent, while on the other hand, they should satisfy poetry constraints such as rhyme scheme, rhyme type, and the number of syllables. The goal of this project is to combine the two art forms of storytelling and lyrics writing through the automated creation of coherent lyrics. The project also highlights the approaches to the creation of poetry and lyrics. The resulting model is named MexicA’s BaLlad MachinE (MABLE). This is the first computational system that generates narrative-based lyrics

Phytotherapy of chlorophyllin exposed Lymnaea acuminata: A new biotechnological tool for fasciolosis control

    Get PDF
AbstractPhytotherapy of chlorophyllin formulations against Fasciola gigantica infected Lymnaea acuminata under sunlight exposure was highly toxic against redia and cercaria larvae. Binary combinations (1:1 ratio) of chlorophyllin (CHL)+freeze dried cow urine (FCU) were more toxic against cercariae (8h LC50: 9.6mgL−1) than single treatment with chlorophyllin (8h LC50: 12.6mgL−1) in sunlight. The larvicidal activity of sunlight exposed CHL against rediae (8h LC50: 13.5mgL−1) and cercariae (8h LC50: 12.6mgL−1) was more pronounced than laboratory conditions CHL treatment (rediae- 8h LC50: 305.9mgL−1; cercariae- 8h LC50: 765.4mgL−1). Larvicidal activity of FCU was less than CHL and CHL+FCU against both redia and cercaria. Chlorophyllin and its formulations were more toxic against redia and cercaria larvae in sunlight than laboratory conditions. CHL and its different formulations may be used as potent larvicides against Fasciola gigantica larvae. Chlorophyllin formulations will be economical, ecologically sounder and their use in aquatic environment will be safe

Optimization of machine parameters of Parvatiya Sugam motorized thresher using response surface methodology

    Get PDF
A Parvatiya Sugam Thresher was designed and developed at College of Home Science GBPUA & T, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, India. It is a low cost motorized machine for threshing paddy crops especially for hill region, it is user friendly and more efficient in its working. The machine performance was evaluated for optimal design parameters viz, height 755 mm, time 5.1 minutes and crop load 1.5 kg. Comparative performance tests between the newly developed (Parvatiya sugam thresher) and existing thresher were conducted to the optimization. Test result indicates that Parvatiya sugam thresher gives better result compared to existing thresher. It was inferred that ½ hp motor was introduced to have optimum drum speed and threshing performance of paddy thresher

Demographic Analysis of Factors Influencing Purchase of Life Insurance Products in India

    Get PDF
Understanding the consumer’s perception and attitude towards insurance and creating an insurance culture is essential in facilitating the success of insurance services. A better understanding of consumer’s behavior through demographic analysis can play an important role in predicting demand for insurance. However, emerging new complex financial products and changes in the preferences of people for preventing their risks make it difficult. The study aims to find out the relationship of demographic characteristics of the respondents with five important factors influencing the purchase of a life insurance product namely product quality and brand image, service quality, customer friendliness, brand loyalty and commitment. Product Quality and Brand Image came out as the highest ranking factors while Brand Loyalty has been rated as the least important factor. It has been further observed that these factors vary significantly across various demographic characteristics of the respondents. Key Words: Factors, Influencing, Customer Preferences, Demographics, Insuranc

Development And Empirical Validation Of Algorithm On Division Of Polynomials For Tenth Grade Students

An important task in the field of education is the improvement in the teaching-learning process. Algorithmic instruction has been widely used with advantages not only in classroom study but also in teaching, in the medicine industry, and in public services in advanced countries. Algorithms as a self – instructional technique needs to be tried out in India. An algorithm not only helps to master new skills but, also lessens the time gap in achieving those skills. With this view and using mathetic style of programming this study was designed for tenth-grade students
